How many delivery robot incidents were there in 2026?
The Machine Record lists 11 verified incidents involving sidewalk and road delivery robots dated 2026: none recording an injury, and 1 that reached a regulator, a recall or a court. A case enters the register only when two independent published sources or one regulator record describe the same event with a date and an outcome, so this is a count of documented incidents, not of everything that happened. The year is still open and the count rises as cases clear verification.

How this was counted
Cases are drawn from the press in ten languages and from regulators; each is corroborated across at least two independent domains before publication, and every source is archived at the moment it is read. Rules on the methodology page.
Fleet sizes are not public, so none of this is a rate: a company with more machines on the street and more press coverage accumulates more cases at the same incident rate.
No federal file covers sidewalk robots: NHTSA's Standing General Order applies to vehicles with driving automation, so delivery robots appear only through the press and regulators the register reads. A city with more coverage shows more cases.

- What counts as an incident here?
- Something that happened to a person, a vehicle or a piece of property, or an event a regulator or court acted on: a collision, a machine blocking a road or a crossing, an injury, a recall, a lawsuit. Corporate news and demonstrations that went to plan do not count.
- Is this every incident that happened?
- No. It is every incident reported in the press the register reads, or recorded by a regulator, that cleared verification. The register says what is documented, not what is unknown.
